Does Coffee Make the Body Acidic? [MUST READ]

Acidosis causes your body’s fluids in large acid quantity. This affects or creates negative symptoms and poses a long-run health risk.

What acid is in the body?

As we know human body makes great complexation. It has acidic and alkaline substances. The body’s inner system balances these two substances to function well. Reasonable experts believe that the ideal level of acid and alkaline in the body should be between 7.35 ph to 7.45.

To date, research has revealed that the Ph as mentioned above level, if it goes above or below, can imbalance the volume of acidic and alkaline. Thus, making it a problem for health.

What are the effects of too much acid in the body?

If it is found to be more or less than its ideal level, various effects can be observed.

1. Diabetes

Diabetes is the most negative symptom that happens due to acid. And in fact, one of the most vicious human problems that every human being should avoid.

2. Kidney disease

The kidney is one of the most sensitive organs in our body, and that sense organs may be affected by the extreme level of acid in our body.

3. Low blood sugar

When low blood sugar occurs, most of the organs in the body are dysfunctional, causing severe damage to health.

4. Dehydration

The body needs to be dehydrated to function well. Too much acidity dehydrates the body, causing problems for good function.

Does Coffee Make the Body Acidic?

Now the question arises that does coffee make the body acidic? The answer is not that straightforward. Various factors can affect or chance the acidity level in coffee.

So what are the factors that make coffee acidic.

• Brewing time

Brewing time decides the fate of acidity in coffee. If the brewing timing for making coffee is short, the chances are that there can be more or a high acidic beverage. If the brewing time takes longer, the chances are that acidic will be in low quantity.

• Brewing method

The mechanism through which coffee is brewed also contributes to the acidic level in a beverage. If you choose to brew coffee with a cold-brewing method, there are more chances that the acidity will be lower. If you find the hot-brewing method interesting and exciting for your daily coffee, the chance is that there can be more acidity in the coffee.

• Roasting

How long you roast your coffee will decide the level of acidity in a beverage. If you roast coffee for more time, the level of acidity will be lower. If you make coffee roasted for less duration, the chance is that there will be higher acidity in it.

• Ground size

The acidic level in a beverage also depends on the size of the ground you use in your coffee. The smaller the ground is, the lower the acidic level is in your drink. Similarly, the greater the size is, the chances are the acidic level will be higher. The chief reason for the smaller ground to be lower in acidity because if a smaller ground gets more exposure or is roasted, the acidic level will be diminished. And suppose the size is larger or bigger or even medium. If they are roasted at the average time that roasts a smaller ground, the acidic level will remain higher because the more roasted the ground is, the more chances are that the acidic level remains higher.

Various ways to reduce the acidic level in coffee.

Prefer the cold brewing method instead of hot

As we have pointed out above, the cold brewing method tends to produce less acidic coffee, which means you should prefer the cold brew method over hot if you want a lower acidic level in coffee. The hot brewing method creates/ produces a high pH in your drink. Therefore, you should not opt hot brewing method.

Prolong brew timing just like the French press

Long brew timing brings the acidic level down to much extent. So, the prolonged brew timing should be preferred as it roasts much and decreases the acidic level.

Always brew at a lower temperature

The lower temperature is ideal for great results if you tend to have a lower-acidic beverage. At lower temperatures, coffee gets a great roasting heat slowly and gradually. So, I always prefer a lower temperature for ideal results of getting lower acidity in coffee.

Choose a coarse grind

There are various grinding options; coarse is one of them. To minimize the acidic level in coffee, you should consider the coarse grinding option. It almost wipes out the acid in coffee.

Conclusion

A high level of acid in the body creates health risks and complications. The level of acid should remain within the limit of an acceptable threshold. That becomes a difficult task if you’re a coffee lover and consume this beverage several times a day. In normal coffee, acid can be found in a much large volume. The acidic level can be controlled in a coffee if you follow the above methods mentioned in this article.
